Teachers Can't Do It All!
And that's why we're here!
As volunteers, we come together to help raise funds and provide support to teachers and students and fund programs at Edgewood Elementary School in Spring Branch ISD.
Parental Advocacy
One of the central purposes of any parent-teacher association (PTA) is to represents parents' voices to the state legislature. Therefore, PTA shares legislative updates pertaining to education with parents from time-to-time as it affects Edgewood Elementary or Spring Branch ISD.
PTA is also a conduit for parents to establish working relationship with the school's administrative staff: the principal, assistant principal, and other adminstrators.
Funds for Expenses
The Texas Education system already has a tight budget. PTA allows parents, teachers and community members to come together to help produce and promote programs that the school's budget just cannot cover. Examples of funding at work include: funding reading program incentives, sending EWE students to Main Street Theatre, field trips, paying for after-school snacks for the annual Winter Program, teacher appreciation, etc.
